Democratic professional club to host Marti Emerald

SAN DIEGO (Press Release)– City Council member Marti Emerald will speak on the state of the City from a Democrat’s perspective and take questions at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Mission Hills home of Linda Brown, 1870 Sheridan.

There are some complex issues due to the budget crisis. For example, some funds are earmarked for projects such as the library or stadium, and cannot be spent on other items. Consequently, the City is laying off employees and limiting services while proposing a new City Hall.

Emerald  represents District 7 which is a large and diverse area, generally East of 805 and North of 94; it includes Tierrasanta, City Heights, the SDSU college area, Lake Murray, and Miramar.

What are her priorities and perspectives, and what plans and reserves are being considered for future recessions? The council member was a well-known local TV personality, having been a former consumer reporter for many years before her election to the council.
