NEW YORK (WJC)—A meeting of senior diplomats of the Group of Six Nations in New York on Iran’s nuclear program has reportedly ended in failure after China sent only a lower-ranking delegate and vetoed an immediate round of new UN sanctions against Tehran.
However, the diplomats of Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States agreed that Iran’s response to a proposed plan to change and increase monitoring of its nuclear development was unsatisfactory, and that the nations should now begin discussing the “second track,” according to the ‘New York Times’.
Meanwhile, Iran said it was examining proposed foreign investments of up US$ 20 billion in its energy sector, according to Oil Minister Massoud Mirkazemi. He did not name any of the foreign companies which he said had proposed such investments.
