This past week the San Diego Jewish community lost a bright light, Raquel Bakcht.
My wife and I first met Raquel and her husband Natan while attending minyan at Congregation Beth El. There was an aura of love surrounding her and she had the most sparkling eyes. We always looked for her at Shabbat services, enjoyed our hug and conversation afterwards and again the few times we dined with them and their havurah.
Raquel also worked tirelessly with the JFS using her Mexican – American heritage to help the less fortunate.
She was the epitome of the Jewish woman, observant, beloved wife, mother and grandmother and competent professional. Sadly, she is now of blessed memory.
