HAIFA, Israel (Press Release)–Prof. David Faraggi has been elected the next Rector of the University of Haifa by the Senate of the University. He is to take over from current Rector Prof. Yossi Ben-Artzi in October 2010.
Faraggi, who is currently Vice Rector, is a bio-statistician in the Department of Statistics. He received his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984 and completed his postdoctoral studies at the Harvard School of Public Health’s Department of Biostatistics. He has been visiting professor and fellow professor in many higher education institutions around the world, including Harvard University, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and more.
Faraggi is a full professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Haifa. He has written over 70 articles that have been published in the leading international scientific journals. Since 2006, Faraggi has been heading a University of Haifa research team that was selected out of tens of other teams around the world to participate in a study at the National Institutes of Health examining the effects of aspirin in gestation and reproduction.
Faraggi, 55, was born in Haifa and is married with two children.
