Irving Goodman To Head T.I. Synagogue

Mr. Irving Goodman was elected President of Tifereth Israel Synagogue for 1956.  Elected to serve with him are Dave Fischbein, Vice Pres., Morris Hirsch, Vice Pres., Moss Addleson, Sec’y; Beronda Tulchinsky, Financial Sec’y, and Jos. Kader, Treas.

Plans for the installation ceremony will be announced in the near future.

Hadassah

Mrs. R.W. Smith and Mrs. David Horowitz will serve as Co-Chairmen for Hadassah’s December 21st meeting which will be in the form of a Desert-Tea in Temple Center at 1 p.m.

Departing from the usual noon lunches the chairmen have announced that they will feature only  home baked delicacies for the event.

Mrs. Gabriel Berg, Program Chairman, will present Cantor Joseph Cysner and the Tifereth Israel Youth Choir in a musical program.  Mrs. Berg has suggested that since children will not be in school at this time that they be invited to attend this delightful program. An added feature will be the appearance of Miss Susan Solof who will give a short monologue.

Mrs. Harry Felson, President, cordially invites the community to attend this event since she will give a short resume of her convention activities.

Charge for the afternoon has been kept to the nominal sum of fifty cents per person, a Hadassah treat to its members and friends.  Special gests for the afternoon will be the 29 debutantes, who will be presented at the organization’s festival ball on December 25th.

David Frank, 61 years of age, passed away at his home 3935 Orange Avenue.  He had lived in San Diego for 55 years and was a retired electrical contractor.

Mr. Frank was a member of Laskar (sic, Lasker) Lodge—B’nai B’rith; Tifereth Israel; Past. Comdr. & natl Office of Jewish War Veterans; Fighting Bob Post.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Frank, a daughter, Ethel Frank, and his mother, Mrs. Sophie Frank, all of San Diego.

Funeral Services were held at the Lewis Colonial Mortuary, Sunday, December 4, at 2:30 p.m., with Rabbi Monroe Levens officiating.  Entombment in Sholom Mausoleum.

City of Hope: Junior Auxiliary

The City of Hope Junior Auxiliary plans to have a Bingo Party at their next meeting, Tuesday, December 20, at 8:30 p.m. at the Tifereth Israel Synagogue. There will be prizes galore.  Members are urged to bring their friends. 

Twenty-five cent raffle tickets are now for sale by Junior Auxiliary members for a television sale at the big City of Hope Junior Auxiliary fund raising dance, “Sugar and Spice,” to be held in February.

Boys and girls of San Diego County will have the opportunity of a lifetime when auditions for ice skating talent are held in the San Diego Arena, n connection with the appearance there of the 11th International Edition of “Ice Capades,” December 14 through December 22.  Audition times are 4:00 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. on Friday, December 16th Only.

Morris Krause Again Heads Beth Jacob

Morrie Krause will be installed by Rabbi Baruch Stern as President of Beth Jacob Synagogue on Saturday, December 10th, at a banquet and cocktail party starting at 6:30 p.m.  Entertainment and a social hour wll follow. Reservations can be made until December 5th by calling AT 4-9523.

Other officers elected are Vice Presidents—Allan Lame; Phil Mollick; Dr. Walter Ornstein; Financial Secretary – Jerry Weisman; Treasurer—Simon Glaser.

“Looks like you robbed the piggy bank,” grinned the clerk.

“You should excuse me, Mr. Smart Aleck.  We keep a kosher house,” replied Abe indignantly.

Puppeteers Will Entertain at Lunch

The Beth Jacob Sisterhood PTA Will have a delightful afternoon’s entertainment for mothers and youngsters, Tuesday, December 27th.  Luncheons will be served at noon. There will be entertainment provided by “The Moppets”, puppeteers.
