The Jewish Community Center has enrolled a new member, Lawrence Ira Mortin, on
June 22 at 11;23 p.m. Although the
Center is open on Friday nights, this “Shabesdicker Bucher” made his way at the
Sharp Memorial Hospital, weighing in at 6 lbs. and reaching 21 ½ inches in height.

Camargo, Ballerina Espana, will appear at the Roosevelt Auditorium on Saturday,
July 7, 8:15 p.m. in a program of Spanish dance.

The outstanding talent of Camargo is reflected in her history. When Carmen
Amaya was looking for a classical Spanish dancer, to be used in contrast to the
Flamenco group, she chose Camargo who appeared with the group in the picture “Panama
Hattie” and then toured with them as a featured dancer three seasons. Her deft
handling of the castanets was observed by a famous Spanish guitarists, Vicente
Gomez, who enlisted her to play the castanet accompaniment to his original
music for “Blood and Sand.” Her appearances both here and in the Lain countries
have been followed b complimentary press notices.
