Charlene Seidle promoted to senior v.p. at Jewish Community Foundation

SAN DIEGO  – The Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego has promoted Charlene Seidle to Senior Vice President, hired Jessica Toledano as Director of Communications and hired Anahid Brakke as Program Officer.

Seidle is a  seasoned professional at the Foundation and has been with the organization since  1997 with increasing responsibility during her tenure.  In her new role, Seidle oversees the philanthropy programs and strategies of both the Foundation and,  through a unique partnership, the Leichtag Family Foundation.  (The Jewish Community Foundation partners with the Leichtag Family Foundation, a private  independent foundation, to provide staff support, expertise and infrastructure.)

“The Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Foundation announced its decision to promote  Charlene at our year-end meeting,” said Marjory Kaplan, Jewish Community Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer, Miriam and Jerome Katzin Presidential Chair.  “I am thrilled to elevate her to this new position.  Charlene has strong leadership abilities, excellent collaboration skills and is  well-respected throughout our community in all arenas.”

In addition to Seidle’s promotion, the Foundation has added new professional staff in an effort to continue providing the highest-quality level of philanthropic service to the community.

Jessica Toledano has been hired as Director of Communications and is responsible for overall communications, marketing and advertising strategy.  Prior to joining the Foundation, Toledano worked as a media and government relations consultant to San Diego Coastkeeper, L.J. Black Consulting, as well as The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles’ Israel office in Jerusalem.  From 2001 to 2005, Toledano ran the government relations operation for the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.  She was a reporter for Copley News Service in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Business Journal.  Toledano is a graduate of California State University, Chico with a B.A. in political science and holds an M.A. in journalism from California State University, Northridge.

The Foundation has also hired Anahid Brakke as Program Officer.  Brakke will help manage the grant-making operations for the Leichtag Family Foundation.  Brakke has a depth of experience working in the non-profit and foundation sector.  Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked as an independent consultant for non-profits and foundations, advancing social justice efforts through effective  capacity building, communication and grant making strategies.  Before consulting, Brakke was a program officer at the Gary and Mary West Foundation and Director of Health and Human Services at The San Diego Foundation.  She is a graduate of Wellesley College with a B.A. in psychology.
