Welcome — Newcomers to San Diego from Memphis, Tenn., are Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Nuzie and their son, Stanley Allen, aged seven years. Dr. Nuzie, a neurologist, will share the offices of Dr. Harold Elden in La Mesa.
We also welcome back former San Diegan, Robert Wohl, his wife, Beth, and daughter, Melissa, aged 2 1/2 years who have recently moved here from Berkeley, Calif. Mr. Wohl is a graduate of State College, was in the air force for two years and attended the University of California Law School. He is a brother of Elmer Wohl of this city.

The family of Paul Nestor thank their friends and the organizations who extended comfort to them during their recent bereavement.

Inspired by son Gary’s example on the golf course, Mrs. Fred Leeds recently won a trophy for coming in first in her division at the Mission Valley Country Club. Gary won two more golf trophies — he received one for placing third in his age group (11 years) in the Tribune Open Tournament and one for first in a Mission Valley Handicap Tournament.

Happy Birthday — Members and friends gathered at the home for the Aged to honor Mrs. Janet Moss with a birthday party on Sept. 22. Mrs. Moss who has been in the home longer than any other resident, received many cards and gifts, including a big birthday cake.

Miss Gail Kahn, sophomore at UCLA, has pledged to Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle A. Kahn, accompanied by Miss Sherry Newman, motored up to Los Angeles on Sept. 17 to attend the Presentation ceremony. Gail was the houseguests of the Sam Gaylords in Beverly Hills during the “rush” period.

There is an empty feeling in many San Diego homes these days now that the young men and women have returned to college. Janet Solof and Peter Colt have entered the University of California at Berkeley; Preston Martin is attending Pomona; Harriet Silverman and Maxine Schoenkopf, U.C.L.A.

Mr. and Mrs. Bocanner of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., are houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Garber.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gerelick and family have moved from Coronado and now reside at 3815 Liggett Dr. in San Diego.

Twins Bar Mitzvah

Mr. and Mrs. Morris Slayen announce the Bar Mitzvah of their twin sons, Larry and Ronnie, at Tifereth Israel Synagogue, on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 9:30 a.m. Rabbi Monroe Levens will officiate. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend.
It is believed that this will be the first twin Bar-Mitzvah ever held in the Synagogue. A reception and kiddush will follow the services.

Dr. Guy Davis, Jr. To Speak At Temple Center

Temple Beth Israel Sisterhood takes pride in presenting Dr. Guy Davis Jr., lecturer, speaking on a “New Generation Faces An Old Challenge,” Wednesday, Oct. 10, Noon at Temple Center.

Dr. Davis will also address the Men’s Club that evening at a dinner to be held in the Temple Center at 6:30 p.m.

If doting grandparents make good baby sitters than Brad Solof Witte will never go unattended. Brad, the first cxhild of Linda and Bruce Witte, was born on Saturday, September 8.
Maternal grandparents are Sylvia and Louis Solof; paternal grandparents Ella and Henry Witte. Great grandmothers are Julia Winsberg and Jennie Rubinstein, all of San Diego.

A baby daughter, Ellen Renee, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jerome H. Roth on September 21. Ellen weighed 7 lbs, 2 1/2 oz.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Goldstein and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Roth. Great grandparents are Mrs. Betsy Solomon and Mr. Philip Gordon.

Council of Jewish Women Hold Luncheon

A luncheon for the newly-appointed “pick-up captains” for Thrift Shop will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, at noon at the home of Mrs. jack Stern, President.
The Thrift Shop functions under the guidance of Mrs. Eugene sacks, Vice President, and Mrs. Ted Mintz heads the Captains.
Besides discussing plans for all out Thrift Shop operations during the coming year, the ladies will hear Miss Patricia Green speak on home interiors. Miss Green holds a Master’s Degree in interior art and has been in the home decoration field for 10 years, three of them in San Diego.

The new president, Mrs. Wm. Gerelic, presided at the Board Meeting of the Women’s Committee of the Brandeis University on October 1.
It was decided to hold a luncheon on Friday, November 16, to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Louis Dembitz Brandeis. These celebrations will be held all over the United States. A stimulating and entertianing program is being planned.

Hadassah Girls Prepare for Presentation Ball

Hillel’s First Affair

A Splash Party and Buffet will be the first affair for the Hillel Counselorship of San Diego State College this year.
