Jewish-interest license plate: G-ldis

G*LDIS

SAN DIEGO–Our license plate spotter-in-chief, Melanie Rubin, clearly loves Fiddler on the Roof , so when she saw this ambiguous license plate, she read it as if the heart substituted for an “O” in Goldis.   Tevye, you remember, after 25 years loves Goldie, and she loves him too.   Our editor, Don Harrison, read the plate as meaningthat  someone named ‘G’ (perhaps the character in the television show NCIS Los Angeles) loves Ldies (ladies).   There could be other explanations as well, but isn’t such a debate the essence of the Jewish experience? “It means this.” “No, it means that.”  Horse, mule, horse — come to think of it, maybe Melanie is right, it could be from Fiddler on the Roof.
