The celebration kicks off with Daniel Silva, NYT best selling author, with 15 pulse-pounding spy and intrigue novels taken from tomorrow’s headlines, to his credit.  His latest title, The Fallen Angel, reprises Gabriel Allon, art expert and wayward son of Israeli intelligence, who is working behind the walls of the Vatican, restoring one of Caravaggio’s greatest masterpieces. But while working in the conservation lab, he is summoned to St. Peter’s Basilica by his friend and occasional ally Monsignor Luigi Donati, the all-powerful private secretary to his Holiness Pope Paul VII. The body of a beautiful woman, a curator from the antiquities department, lies smashed and broken beneath Michelangelo’s magnificent dome. The Vatican police suspect suicide, though Gabriel, with his restorer’s eye and flawless memory, believes otherwise.

During the Book Fair, Committee members are available to give advice to gift-seekers and offer recommended titles in each category:  books by all the invited speakers, (which may include volumes published in previous years), books of fiction, books on religion, politics, music, and countless other topics, as well as about 500 children’s books, including all the new award-winning titles.
