By Laurie Baron
Every night I watch the news
Seeing many frightful clips.
What’s the danger I must choose
To dodge the next apocalypse?
For Israelis it’s a bomb
Developed by an ayatollah
West Africans cannot be calm
Until they’ve stopped Ebola.
In Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan,
Rage civil wars and crisis.
Al Qaeda, Assad, the Taliban,
And the beheading Isis.
If I were the President
I’d be rather nervous.
Would you like to be a resident
Guarded by the Secret Service?
Since I’m stuck on planet earth,
Where humans make decisions,
What is money worth
If you choke on its emissions?
Even if I tune out,
There’s still much that scares.
I’d prefer to warn about
Lions, and, tigers, and bears.
