It is with deep pain that I pen this letter to you today. Earlier this week, we were horrified to hear that my brother’s 4 year old daughter, who lives in Orange County, has been diagnosed with cancer. Our family is overwhelmed grappling with such news. Tests have been conducted and we await to hear the severity of the situation. What we are aware is that something needs to be done.

We need to storm the heavens asking for mercy on behalf of Menucha Rochel bat Gilah Elka. Our prayers, mitzvot and good deeds can not go unanswered. Please do all that you can to increase in mitzvot, study, prayer and charity on behalf of dear Rochel.

With that in mind, Chaya will have a community Challah Baking program, next week on Thursday, March 19 at 6:30pm for women.

Women have special character and strength, and for centuries, Jewish women have prayed their deepest prayers over the unique blessing while preparing the Challah dough. So we invite all Jewish women, from near and far to join Chaya next Thursday and bang down the walls of Heaven to ask for mercy and bring about a speedy recovery for Menucha Rochel bat Gilah Elka.

(Parenthetically, the Challah bake will be in place of the one originally scheduled in the calendar for May 3).

Please sign up for the Challah Baking at http://goo.gl/forms/L7WyYiolGg.

May we only share good tidings for the future,

Rabbi Rafi & Chaya Andrusier
Chabad of East County

Dear Rabbi Rafi and Chaya,

I know I speak for all our readers in extending to you and your family our profound wishes for Rochel’s full and immediate recovery.  We include a photo of Rochel and her siblings to help our readers visualize this sweet little girl.
