Giving Tuesday planned Dec. 1 by Jewish Federation

jewish Federation of SD CountySAN DIEGO (Press Release) — The Jewish Federation of San Diego County will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of philanthropy that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

On Tuesday, December 1, the Federation will launch a one-day campaign in an effort raise enough money to provide 1,000 hot, home-delivered meals to San Diego’s homebound in need. To achieve this, Federation will be partnering with local Jewish Family Service’s FoodMobile, which seeks funding for the upcoming holiday season. Just $6 is enough to provide one hot, home delivered meal for someone in need.

“We’re excited to be participating in this global event for our second year in a row,” said Federation’s Marketing and Communications Director, Aaron Truax. “We have two days for getting deals – let’s celebrate a day for giving back.  Further, I’d say donating $6 to feed a homebound San Diegan is the best deal in town! We’re proud to partner with JFS to compound the impact of our programs. The hope is to help people share on social media, and get their friends involved in philanthropy. That’s what I get excited about.”

Last year’s partnership yielded more than 1,000 meals and given that success, Federation and Jewish Family Services believe this year will be even more successful.

Donations are being accepted at www.JewishInSanDiego.org/givingtuesday.
