Humoring the headlines: April 3, 2016

SAN DIEGO─ Donald Trump backtracked on his call for punishing women who have abortions.  He only advocates punishing doctors who perform the procedure, but feels that the women minimally should be forced to wear a Scarlet A on their clothing so pro-life advocates can shun them.

Ted Cruz blamed Donald Trump for planting the story in the National Enquirer that the Senator has had several extramarital affairs.  Trying to be more presidential, Trump hasn’t commented directly on the exposé except to start calling Cruz “laying Ted.”

Turkish President Erdogan was offended by Barack Obama’s criticisms of the suppression of freedom of the press in Turkey.  Apparently, Erdogan is in denial about both his country’s past and present.

Actress Susan Sarandon caused a furor this week by admitting that she probably will not vote for Hillary Clinton if Bernie Sanders is not selected as the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.  Although she loathes Donald Trump, she intimated that his election might spark the political revolution Sanders has been seeking.  This strategy didn’t turn out so well when German Communists refused to ally with the German Social Democrats to prevent Hitler from coming to power.

Scientists have discovered that Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens interbred more than previously thought.  This goes a long way towards accounting for the current regression to tribalism and violence throughout the world.
