AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands (WJC) A Jewish advocacy group in the Netherlands said it would take action against celebrating supporters of the soccer club PSV Eindhoven who sang anti-Semitic songs in a fast-food restaurant last week.

The Israel Information Center (CIDI) said it was planning to take legal action against supporters of club who were caught on video chanting “My father was in the commandos, my mother was with the SS. Together they burned Jews, because Jews burn best.”

PSV took the Dutch league title by on the last day of play against Ajax Amsterdam.

Supporters of Ajax call themselves “The Jews”, and rival clubs often chant anti-Semitic slogans during matches. The Ajax leadership has urged fans to stop using the nickname because of the problems.

A CIDI spokesman said that when anti-Jewish songs are sung in football stadiums, the Dutch Football Association would normally action against them. However, because this incident was recorded outside the grounds, CIDI itself had decided to intervene.

PSV Eindhoven spokesman Thijs Slegers told the ‘Eindhovens Dagblad’ that the club would study the footage but added that there was no proof that the video was recorded Monday. He said the chant featured “a horrible text.”
