SAN DIEGO (Press Release)– Josh Stein, Assistant General Manager of the San Diego Padres, will be guest speaker at the June 15 Dinner Forum sponsored by the Men’s Club of Congregation Beth Israel. He will provide firsthand information about the general state of the team as well as about the many changes to the game taking place throughout Major League Baseball.
2016 marks Stein’s 14th season with the Padres. He first joined the club as a baseball operations intern in the summer of 2003. He interned through the 2005 season and was named Advance Scouting Coordinator in 2006. Following the 2009 season, Stein was named Director of Baseball Operations.
Stein enters his third season as Assistant General Manager, after being promoted to the post in December 2013. His primary responsibilities include assisting Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller in all player acquisitions as well as roster, payroll and budget management. Stein is involved in all contract negotiations, including coordinating the club’s salary arbitration efforts, while also managing the Padres’ statistical analysis and video scouting systems.
A 2000 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in psychology, Stein traveled and taught English in South America. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 2005.
This program is open to the entire San Diego community, both men and women. Men’s Club or Temple membership is not a requirement to attend. A buffet dinner will be served.
