Westboro Baptist Church refugee comes to S.D. Sept. 27

SAN DIEGO – Megan Phelps-Roper, a refugee from the hate-mongering Westboro Baptist Church known for its in-your-face demonstrations against Jewish, Catholic, and Muslim institutions, LGBT establishments, and the funerals of U.S. military personnel, will detail her change of heart at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Music Box, 1337 India Street.

Sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League, the event costs $30 per person for those who make advanced reservations by clicking here.   Tickets cost $35 at the door.

Phelps-Roper is the granddaughter of the Topeka, Kansas-based church’s founder, Fred Phelps. Earlier on Sept. 27, she will participate in “Turning Points,” and educational conference for invited teachers, staff and parents, as well as for selected student leaders from 20 San Diego County high schools and middle schools

That conference will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Family JCC, 4126 Executive Drive, La Jolla.
