Janet Tiger play to be showcased May 4

SAN DIEGO (SDJW) — Jewish community member Janet Tiger will be among seven playwrights whose works will be presented May 4th, at 7:30 p.m. as the Scripteasers celebrates seven decades of new plays at its 70th Anniversary Showcase at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 2051 Sunset Cliffs Blvd.

Mitch Feingold, another Jewish community member who is president of The Scripteasers, explained that the organization has read more than 1200 scripts over seven decades, and “We are looking forward to an outstanding showcase which will highlight new work by San Diego playwrights – performed by San Diego actors.”

Tiger will present Let Me Finish.  Various works by Tiger have been performed internationally and published in anthologies in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. She was the recipient of a 2016-17 San Diego Foundation Creative Catalyst Fellow

Founded in 1948, The Scripteasers, a San Diego-based playwrights development group, is the longest continually operating organization in the nation dedicated to helping writers refine their craft.

New plays are read every two weeks throughout the year and members have had work published and performed internationally, including Kennedy Center, and Off-Broadway.  Actors and theater lovers are also welcome, and actor members have been seen on local stages including the Old Globe, Cygnet and many others.

In addition to Tiger, playwrights whose works will be showcased, are Dea Hurston, Jeanne Becijos, Sandra de Helen, Kathleen McLaughlin, Michael Conley, and James Reynolds.
