You can’t hurry peace!

By Laurie Baron

SAN DIEGO−Following their historic summit, Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump formed a singing group called the Supreme Leaders and recorded this following song based on the melody from “You Can’t Hurry Love.”

*

We need peace, peace,
To raise our polls.
And a semblance of progress
To ward off the trolls.

Our daddies said, “You can’t hurry peace!
Be as vague as you can.
They said, “Peace won’t come easy.
There’ll be no missile or bomb ban.

You can’t hurry peace.
So you might as well stall.
Praise your former enemy.
Stop the insulting twitter brawl.

How long can we put off specifying conditions
Of weapon inspections, verified demolitions?
For that Nobel laud, you’ll commit the fraud.

Our daddies said, “When there’s no deal,
Pretend that you’re friends.
Affirm platitudes
To achieve PR ends.
