City planning expert to discuss border wall idea Aug. 15

SAN DIEGO — Beth Israel’s Men’s Club will host Professor Lawrence A. Herzog Ph. D at its 6:30 p.m.. August 15 Dinner Forum. Herzog will provide information and his view on how the proposed wall being considered between the United States and Mexico will impact all of us. This program is open to the entire San Diego Community, both men and women. Temple or Men’s Club membership is not a requirement to attend.

Herzog is a Professor in the graduate program in City Planning, of the School of Public Affairs at San Diego State University.. He is also a consultant and writer specializing in planning, sustainable development and urban design in the United States, Mexico, and Latin America.

He has written or edited 10 books on urban planning, design and global/cross-border development, including: Global Suburbs: Urban Sprawl from the Rio Grande to Rio de Janeiro (Routledge, 2015); Return to the Center (University of Texas Press, 2006) and From Aztec to High Tech (Johns Hopkins, 1999).

He has been a Fulbright Scholar in Peru and the United Kingdom, an international planning consultant to the U.S. Agency for International Development (U.S. A.I.D.) in Peru and Bolivia and served as Visiting Professor or Visiting Scholar at universities in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, France, Spain, Holland, Italy, Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom.
