Obituary: Jeremiah (Jere) Robins, 59

SAN DIEGO — Jeremiah (Jere) Robins, 59, greatly loved by family and friends, passed away on January 16. He was a loving, generous, energetic, gregarious, funny and passionate family man and loyal friend to many.

Born in Philadelphia, Jere grew up in Cleveland and settled in San Diego after college. Jere was Chairman & CEO of Great Pond Management Company, LLC, a US based Private Equity firm, dividing his time between San Diego and Shanghai. Jere was a life member of Congregation Beth Israel and served on the boards of Livestrong Foundation, the La Jolla Music Society, and the UCSD School of Global Policy and Strategy, among others.  Many local and national non-profits benefited from his generous philanthropy.

Jere was devoted to his wife and their two children, and loved reading, writing, music, racing, movies, and his two dogs. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Charlie and Mary Louise Robins and his brother John. He is survived by his wife Cassidy, his children Nora and Eli, and his brother Jim (Barbara) Robins.

A memorial service and celebration of Jere’s life will be on his 60th birthday in the sanctuary at Congregation Beth Israel, 9001 Towne Centre Drive, on March 11 at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Twin Dragons Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation.
