SAN DIEGO (SDJW) — Mayoral candidate Todd Gloria will bring his campaign to opponenet Barbara Bry’s home turf when he speaks July 17 at Congregation Beth Israel, where Bry is a member.
Her forum will be hosted by the Beth Israel Men’s Club at a buffet dinner to be served at 6:30 p.m. at the Beth Israel complex at 9001 Towne Center Drive.
Gloria is a member of the state Assembly and a former City Councilmember. Bry is a current City Councilmember.
The buffet dinner is open to all, regardless of congregational membership or gender.
Gloria got his start in politics working for Congresswoman Susan Davis. He was elected to the City Council in 2008 and served as the city’s interim mayor from August 2013 to March 2014 following the resignation of Mayor Bob Fi;ner. he was elected to the state Assembly in 2016.
This month, Gloria named Jewish Family Service of San Diego as the 2019 Non-Profit of the Year in his 78th Assembly District, citing the agency’s leadership in providing assistance to migrant refugees and aiding healing following national and local gun violence tragedies.
A Men’s Club representative said that Bry will be invited to address the group in the future.
