HENDERSON, Nevada — While in the Las Vegas area for a conference, I went out with a group of friends for dinner. One of the group has a custom of trying Thai food everywhere that he goes, so he suggested we try out Thailicious. We did.

It’s a very small restaurant that is very popular. The place was full and there was a waiting list to be seated for dinner. The decor was simple: functional tables with a big mural on the back wall. The waiters were all Thai and very nice.

We ordered the Yum Woon Sen for the table (Thai glass noodle salad), which is glass noodles, ground chicken, lettuce, tomato, carrots, onion, cilantro and peanuts in a spiced lime sauce. It was very good, tangy and savory at the same time.

It turned out that we all also ordered the green curry with chicken, which is chicken simmered with coconut milk, zucchini, eggplant, bell peppers, bamboo shoots and basil. Since it was a group of people that had just met at the conference, everyone ordered their own meal instead of ordering different items to share, which is how we all happened to order the same thing.

I requested it at a spice level of 1.5 and it still packed a punch. Not overwhelmingly so though, but definitely noticeable. It was pretty good, but I have had better. I would say the flavor is sweet and spicy at the same time.

It was a nice meal, but I don’t see myself driving out of my way just to have it. It did the job, but didn’t leave me dreaming about it. So I give them an 8 overall.
