LA JOLLA, California (Press Release) — The San Diego Center for Jewish Culture hosts a Sephardic Festival, Sept. 14-15.
This two-day festival begins Saturday evening at 7 p.m. with community and film, starting with a dessert reception and Sephardic Havdalah, followed by a short documentary that showcases the stories of San Diego’s very own Sephardim in Our San Diego Sephardic Voices. The feature film – Three Mothers, directed by Dina Zvi-Riklis – follows, highlighting the ever-lasting connection of three Sephardic mothers and sisters.
On Sunday, the family friendly shuk, kicking off at 12 p.m., will liven the day with food, Sephardic games and activities for kids, booths with items for purchase and educational materials.
Finally, the festival concludes with a performance at 3 p.m. by the Alhambra Sephardic Music Ensemble, an internationally-recognized group.
The Saturday evening program is $18 and $15 for JCC members. The Sunday afternoon shuk is free to attend, while the Sunday afternoon concert is $30 and $25 for JCC members. An All-Access Festival Pass is $40 and $35 for JCC members.
