ENCINITAS, California (Press Release) – Gala Co-Chairs Mary Epsten and Alana Ziman, and Honorary Chairs Sheila and Jeffrey Lipinsky along with an expected 400 guests, will gather on Saturday, February 22, at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla for the Legacy of Light and Love Gala, honoring the legacy of our San Diego Jewish community. It will be a spectacular night featuring a cocktail reception, live auction, 3-course dinner, electrifying entertainment by The Dancing Fire, and dancing to Spencer and his Players!
Mary Epsten has served as Women’s Auxiliary President for over 25 years. She began visiting residents at “the Home” as a teenager and became a passionate supporter and member of the Women’s Auxiliary after joining in 1989. Following years of raising funds for the home organizing fashion shows, galas, and golf tournaments, she became a dedicated member of the Seacrest Foundation Board of Directors.
Mary began bringing her daughter, Alana Ziman, to Women’s Auxiliary events when she was just a toddler. Alana, now a mother herself, proudly brings along her new baby, Sydney, to gala committee meetings, carrying on the Epsten and Ziman family legacy.
Gala Honorary Chairs Sheila and Jeffrey Lipinsky have been instrumental in shaping our San Diego community through their philanthropic support of the arts, Jewish agencies, universities, and much more. Their work encourages others to help make San Diego a better place for all of us. Both Sheila and Jeffrey’s families (parents and grandparents) were part of the founders of San Diego Hebrew Homes; their work carries on the family tradition. Sheila and Jeffrey are very proud of their two sons and daughters-in-law, who deeply understand the meaning of caring for those who came before us and who are instilling this important family value in their children. Their philanthropic investment in Seacrest Foundation ensures this legacy of caring for those in need.
The Legacy of Light and Love Gala has a robust fundraising goal for the evening. All proceeds raised will support the Seacrest Village Resident Assistance Fund, which provides charitable care for those in our community who are most in need. The number of seniors requiring assistance to cover the cost of their food, shelter, and physical care is growing tremendously; this year alone, approximately $2.5 million in charitable care is needed.
Special ticket pricing of $100 is offered for Rising Leaders (guests 40 years of age and under) to encourage the next generation of leaders to join us in ensuring the legacy of Seacrest for many years into the future. Each guest who purchases a Rising Leaders ticket before December 31, 2019, will be entered in a drawing to win a one-night stay at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla on the night of the gala. Rising Leaders and all attendees are encouraged to make it a stay-cation and live it up! There is a discounted block rate if anyone would like to make a reservation at the hotel.
A dedicated Steering Committee is in place to make this fundraising goal a reality.
