Imagine there’s no virus
To keep us all inside.
No news of it spreading
Or numbers who have died.
Imagine all the people
Holding hands again.
Imagine enough facemasks,
Machines to help us breathe.
Toilet paper, sanitizer
Shortages which make us seethe.
Imagine all the healers
Protected from disease.
You may say I’m impatient
With the current president.
Must we wait until November
To break this precedent?
Imagine schools are open,
Restaurants where we can eat.
No stores with windows shuttered.
Hugging friends when we meet
Imagine all the people
Dancing in the streets.
You may say I’m impatient
With the current president.
Must we wait until November
To break this precedent?
