(Melody: I Just Saw Her Face)

SAN DIEGO−

I’ve can’t see her face
Her mask is cotton and not lace.
No lips or nose
On which to gaze.
During this pandemic phase.

It there were no plague.
My attraction might not be vague.
And I would ask her for a date,
But now I’ll have to wait.
‘Til the curve flattens.

Distance, keeping our distance.
Hygiene insistence.
‘Til it has passed.

Six feet seems like a mile.
When I can’t see her smile.
Perhaps we might talk.
Or even take a walk.
But we must stay at home,
With no other place to roam.

I’d like to hold her hands.
But this too has been banned.
Though I washed mine with soap.
The CDC advises nope.
There’s no love at first sight,
During the current blight.

Abstaining, I’m just abstaining.
I’ll be complaining.
Until it’s over.
