Ehad Mi Yodeah in Coronavirus times
Garry Fabian, our occasional correspondent in Melbourne, Australia, passed on from his daughter Carole, the lyrics of an updated Passover song, Ehad Mi Yodeah (Who Knows One?)
Who knows one? I know one. One is Hashem. And God alone and ever more shall be so
Who knows 1,5? I know 1.5 One point five must always be, be the meters kept between you and me
Who knows 2? I know 2. Two is the maximum number of people who can be seen walking out on the streets.
Who knows 3? I know 3. Three is the number of stimulus packs for all those people getting the sack
Who knows 4? I know 4. Four times a day people walk their mutts, to stop themselves from going nuts
Who knows 7? I know 7. Seven are the days of the week, however our sense of time is up the creek
Who knows ten? I know 10? Ten were the plagues sent to set us free. Now we have just one, but it’s a doozy.
Who knows 14? I know fourteen. Fourteen are the days of quarantine, when like Jeremy you can’t be seen
Who knows 19? I know nineteen. Nineteen is the number of the Convid mess. Where 1-18 are is anybody’s guess
Who know when this plague will be done? Nobody knows –except for one. And one is Hashem and God alone, and ever more shall be so.

*San Diego City Council President Georgette Gomez, in a fundraising appeal, says: “In our primary election, we were outspent by a 3:1 margin by our self-funding opponent and a super PAC that formed to support her. We’re expecting more of the same in the General Election. The truth is, money isn’t everything — but it does matter.” Gomez is seeking election in the 53rd Congressional District from which Susan Davis is retiring. Her opponent is Sara Jacobs.

Above, Cantor Larry Kornit of Congregation B’nai Tikvah in Carlsbad poses by a needlepoint his mother, Sherry Kornit, liked to call “The Rabbis.” He says that “some people think of needlepoint as akin to coloring by numbers which anyone can do, but to me, these are the expressions of love and dedication from my mother to my father, Harvey Kornit, and in turn our love for each other.” He recalled that when his late father was sick in the hospital, his mother “would sit with him and she would be doing her needlepoint just to keep busy.” … At right, Ed & Sue Cherlin show a matzah cover that was designed and hand drawn by local artist Hollis Litrownik.
