EMET means “truth” in Hebrew. It also is the acronym for the Endowment for Middle East Truth. In recognition of May being Jewish American history month, EMET each day is producing short profiles of Jews who have made important contributions to the United States of America. On May 1, EMET profiled Revolutionary War financier Haym Solomon. Today, May 2, it profiled Gertrude Elion, whose work as a biochemist and pharmacologist won her election as president of the American Association for Cancer Research.
