SAN DIEGO — Although I have never relieved myself on the White House lawn, I think the Golden Deceiver recently stepped into a pile of dog poop there. He has become about as popular as an unleashed Pitbull is to a mail carrier. In my capacity as man’s best friend, here’s some advice for him.
*
Someone on your staff leaked a story that you are doubling down on racist appeals to your base because you are following your gut instincts. I don’t know about human guts, but what comes out of my mine stinks. And I know something about dog whistles!
*
I’ve heard you dislike wearing a mask in public. Given the things that you say, I think you should consider wearing a muzzle,
*
If there were a rabies epidemic, and veterinarians warned dog owners not to let their dogs off leash and socialize with other dogs, I wouldn’t encourage them to take them to dog parks.
*
You keep on assuring Americans that they don’t need to take precautions because the coronavirus will “disappear.” If my vet believed fleas would disappear, I’d still wear a flea collar.
*
Suppose you had a rabid dog named Rover Stone that bit someone, and animal control confirmed that this was true and decided Rover had to be euthanized. It wouldn’t be good for the public’s health to disregard that decision and let Rover roam the streets.

This is the worst article I have ever read!
Why is SDJW becoming so political and left leaning?
I always enjoyed reading the articles about our community and Israel.
This type of unnecessary, unpleasant commentary is disappointing to see in your magazine.
Please go back to being dignified!
Hi Jenny, Thanks for writing in. As you know, Laurie Baron has contributed many articles to San Diego Jewish World, some political, others scholarly reflecting the fact that he is the retired chair of the Lipinsky Institute for Judaic Studies at San Diego State University. Humor is a strange thing: what some people find funny, other people find offensive, as in your case today. As an editor, I try to present the full spectrum of political opinion on our pages, and if you go through our report, I think that you will find that the conservative point of view is well represented, especially with authors like Shoshana Bryen, Steve Kramer, and Caren Besner, just to name a few. My hope is to get people on different sides of the political and religious spectrum at least reading each other’s opinions, if not talking to each other, lest we only are exposed to the opinions of those who already agree with us. Please accept my personal best wishes for you and Julian. — Don Harrison
