SAN DIEGO (SDJW) — Young Israel of San Diego has scheduled a virtual gala tribute to honor Rabbi Chaim and Rebbetzin Temi Hollander for their 21 years of devoted service to members and friends of the Orthodox synagogue. Young Israel of San Diego was founded 31 years ago. The virtual gala will take place on Sunday, September 13, at 7 pm.
Rabbi Hollander has taught Torah and life to many youngsters and families at Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School for many decades, students who years later continue to revere their rebbe. “His unbounded impact on San Diego’s Jewish community will live on in the hearts, minds and lives of generations to come,” commented Michael R. Mantell, Ph.D., who will emee the gala.
Rabbi Simcha Weiser, Headmaster of the San Diego Hebrew Day School, will deliver the keynote tribute at the virtual gala. Funds from this event honoring the Hollanders will help their legacy endure, securing a permanent home for Young Israel, and building a community eruv in honor the rabbi and rebbetzin, according to Rabbi Eddie Rosenberg, who has succeeded Hollander In the pulpit.
The congregation based In the San Carlos neighborhood of San Diego — across Navajo Road from Cowles Mountain — invites Jews of all denominations to join this virtual celebration and consider sharing your admiration, thoughts and memories of the Hollanders in the YISD virtual ad journal.
