SAN DIEGO — Hanukkah is coming! Here is a wonderful entertainment opportunity for kids ages 6-12 that incorporates the Hanukkah story into a fun mystery they can solve at home. Becky Cherlin Baird is the founding Artistic Director for the J’Company Youth Theatre at the Lawrence Family JCC. She is the proud owner of Kids on Stage Productions and has worked in a variety of Broadway productions, including Fiddler on the Roof.
When theatre opportunities disappeared in March due to Covid19, Baird set about reinventing what musicals would look like on Zoom. With Hanukkah just around the corner, she decided to create something theatrical and engaging for young families.
Baird grew up in a family that loved scavenger hunts. She continued that tradition by creating hunts for her own children. Now she wants to expand her love of ‘the hunt’ to other families as well. And so, The Temple & the Secret Code was born.
Children will become Junior Detectives as they search for clues in real time, in their own homes, to help solve this exciting mystery puzzle. Kids interact with each other on Zoom to work out the clues, compare notes and ultimately solve the mystery. The audience is limited to ten Junior Detectives for each game. This allows the actors to interact with the kids on a personal level.
The performances are available Thursdays – Sundays with two or three shows per day. Becky suggests you reserve a day and time with relatives and/or friends so kids will know their fellow detectives and can solve the puzzle together. Or sign up as an individual and meet a whole new group of friends. Either way, a good time is guaranteed for all.
Tickets are on sale now via this website.
Don’t wait too long. This amazing opportunity is sure to sell out quickly.
