Satire: May Twenty Twenty Be Forgot

May twenty twenty be forgot.
But remember those who died.
Due to the incompetence
Of a president who lied.

For the dead in nursing homes,
Underserved minorities,
For those succumbing to Covid,
From comorbidities.

While some of us could work from home,
Many others lost their jobs.
Not all wore masks to feel safe,
Or tested with nasal swabs.

May twenty twenty be forgot.
But not noble care givers.
Nurses, doctors, orderlies,
And the people who delivered.

For the vaccine, hurrah
To protect from future harms.
For the new president:
Two shots in our arms.
