Dear Friends,
Happy Hanukkah!!
It is my distinct pleasure to share with you that Heidi Gantwerk has been named President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County.
Over the last six months, I have had the opportunity to see Heidi excel in her role as interim CEO ever since she assumed the helm shortly after Michael Jeser z”l took a leave of absence.
Countless Federation staff and lay leaders, professional leadership of other organizations, as well as our valued supporters and stakeholders have reached out to me to express confidence and admiration for Heidi. After an extensive process, there was no doubt that Heidi is the best leader for our Federation.
At Federation, when faced with communal opportunities and challenges we rise to the occasion because, as we say, “We were built for that.” As you learn more about the arc of Heidi’s professional, civic and communal career, you will realize her lifelong trajectory naturally leads her to this important position. In other words, I truly believe “Heidi was built for this.”
After having the opportunity to work with Heidi, to see the depth and sincerity of her passion and regard for Judaism and our community, the fidelity with which she upholds and promotes our mission, and her innate capabilities, I have no doubt that we have the right leader for our organization.
2021 has been a tough and challenging year for our Federation. We began the year with one great leader and are finishing the year with a different great leader. It is very meaningful to me that Heidi got to work extensively with Michael and, thus, will always be influenced by the wonderful insight, passion and vision he had for our community.
Please join me in welcoming Heidi as President and CEO of our Federation. I know she will appreciate your kind and proactive support.
