Coronavirus infection figures in Israel are climbing to new daily highs. On Monday the Health Ministry reported 21,501 new cases for the previous day, compared to a peak of around 11,000 cases per day during the fourth coronavirus wave in the autumn. The actual number of infections is likely to be much higher, as Israel relaxed testing requirements last week. Now, only high-risk groups and people over 60 years of age have to take a PCR test after coming into contact with someone infected with the virus, while a rapid antigen test is sufficient for everyone else.
