Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has offered humanitarian assistance to Turkey and Syria, announcing the dispatch of search and rescue teams as well as medical teams “in accordance with a request from the Turkish government.” The precise nature of the assistance to Israel’s northern neighbour, with which it remains at war, was not disclosed. Israeli Defence Minister Joav Galant earlier ordered the army to prepare to deploy a humanitarian aid unit to Turkey.
