SAN DIEGO (Press Release) — Come celebrate Israel in a fun-filled day of family activities, music, dance, food, and performances on May 21 at the House of Israel in the international Village in Balboa Park, from 12-4 p.m.
The “75 Years of Coming Home” event is co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of San Diego, House of Israel, Hillel of San Diego, San Diego ShinShinim, and StandWithUs San Diego. Admission is free and all are invited to partake in the joyous day.
Special guest is Israeli singer-songwriter Danny Robas whose beautiful melodies will engage the crowd. There will be an exclusive performance from the “Special In Uniform” band, a unique program that integrates young adults with special needs into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and, in turn, into Israeli society. Attendees will also be treated to superb performances of music and dancing by local groups.
Commemorating the modern State of Israel’s founding 75 years ago, the focus will be on Israel as the indigenous home of the Jewish people and sharing the unique melting pot of Israeli culture with the San Diego community. In addition to the many activities offered by the House of Israel, there will be informational booths on the 3,000 year history of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland, Israel’s cultural and religious diversity, Israeli music and dance, and of course, the various cuisines.
Dar Halevy Feldman, The Jewish Agency for Israel’s Shlicha (emissary) and Director of Israel Engagement and Community Relations at Hillel of San Diego, states, “It is so special to the Jewish and Israeli community to celebrate Israel in the International Village at Balboa Park. With antisemitism on the rise, it is more important than ever to share the joy of our heritage and Israeli culture.”
