Mr. Ganley will implement, direct, and develop a security program designed to increase safety and security for all those who participate in synagogues, schools, museums, service organizations, and other centers of Jewish life in San Diego.
“Jewish Federation of San Diego is excited to partner with SCN and welcomes Bill to our team,” said Heidi Gantwerk, President and CEO of Federation. “As our country faces dramatic increases in antisemitic threats and incidents, Jewish communal security has never been more important. Certainly we’ve experienced antisemitism and tragic events right here in our community. Bill’s 35 years of experience and knowledge of public safety and security issues will be instrumental in keeping our local Jewish institutions as safe, secure, and prepared as possible.”
Jewish Federation also announced the “Jewish Security Townhall,” featuring National Director and Chief Executive Officer of SCN, Michael Masters on June 21. Masters will discuss how Federation will be more secure with the implementation of security-related best practices throughout the San Diego Jewish community. Masters, along with Gilad Hoffman of Temple Beth Am and Federation’s President & CEO Heidi Gantwerk, will discuss Federation’s partnership with SCN and how they’re working together to make San Diego’s Jewish Institutions safer. More information and registration can be found here.
The Federation security program is part of the growing network of Jewish Federations and communities that have partnered with SCN to launch community-wide security programs designed around an “all threats, all hazards” approach to preparedness, safety, security, and resiliency. Each program is connected to SCN’s national operations, providing direct access to SCN’s National Jewish Security Operations Command Center and Duty Desk, as well as best practice security resources and support related to policies, procedures, physical security, facility assessments, training, and incident response.
“SCN is honored to work in partnership with Jewish Federation of San Diego to ensure the safety, security, and resiliency of the Jewish people. This initiative is part of our effort to create a security shield over the entire Jewish community in North America,” said Michael Masters, National Director and CEO of SCN. “We are establishing comprehensive security initiatives across the country to empower and protect Jewish communities, and we are thrilled to build on our partnership with the Jewish Federation of San Diego to support their safety and security initiatives.”
Prior to joining SCN and Jewish Federation of San Diego, Federation’s new Community Service Director Ganley served for 22 years with the Salem, New Hampshire police department rising to deputy chief. He also has experience with the New Hampshire Police Association, Rockingham County Law Enforcement Officers Association, and the San Diego Humane Society.
