LOS ANGELES (Press Release) — The Southern California-based Israel Bonds Western Region hosted an event for its platinum society members Jan. 16 that featured influential speakers in the diplomatic and financial arenas.
Amit Mekel — the Los Angeles-based Deputy Consul General of Israel to the Pacific Southwest and the first non-Jewish Israeli diplomat in this region — shared that “I feel an even deeper calling to openly share my personal journey at every event since the war’s onset.”
“Originating from a Druze village in Israel, my father and brother proudly served our nation in the IDF despite our non-Jewish identity,” Mekel said. “Following the events of October 7th, it is imperative that we embrace both Israeli and international communities seeking unity with us. Acknowledging the enduring challenges post-war, we extend an invitation to establish connections that transcend religious and cultural boundaries.”
Scott Beiser, CEO of Houlihan Lokey and member of the National Advisory Council of Israel Bonds, interviewed Dovi Frances, founding partner of Group 11, a venture capital company that invests in fintech and Israeli-based technology. They discussed strategies for investing in Israeli technology and went over statistics about Israel’s per capita success in technology. They also spoke to the crowd about the current war and how it has affected these sectors.
Attendees also heard from Erez Goldman, Executive Director of the Israel Bonds Western Region, who spoke about the importance of the Jewish people standing united, now more than ever.
