At the County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer persuaded her colleagues to unanimously approve a four-month study to determine sites where temporary shelters can be placed throughout the county for homeless people. Blake Nelson quoted her in The San Diego Union-Tribune as saying “We still have hundreds and hundreds of people unhoused on our streets every single night who need and deserve a place to sleep.” Lawson-Remer pointed to the 150 tent beds at the Rosecrans Shelter in Point Loma as a possible model. … In a 3-2 vote on Tuesday, Lawson-Remer was in the majority who voted to hire a staff member to coordinate gun violence prevention activities. “Educating gun owners about safe gun storage and parents about how to have difficult conversations with other parents about what gun storage looks like in their homes will save lives,” she said.
