SAN DIEGO — Over 4,000 in-person activists and leaders, plus 5,500 online, joined ADL last week in New York for ADL’s annual National Leadership Summit (NLS) and the Never is Now (NIN) Summit to Combat Antisemitism. This included over a dozen folks from our region [many pictured at right].
More than 100 speakers presented on dozens of panels addressing the international Jewish community’s response to October 7, hate and antisemitism online, educating against bias, mitigating against election-related extremism, and using data-proven interventions to fight antisemitism. Among them:
–Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt spoke and provided a tour-de-force on the global dimensions of this current crisis.
–Author Dara Horn earned a standing ovation for her remarks on the roots and reach of anti-Jewish hate.
— Marc Rowan, former chairman of the Wharton School, talked about his work to address antisemitism on college campuses.
— U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland spoke about the importance to keep up the fight against hate and extremism, especially in a post-January 6th world.
— Arab-Israeli Nuseir Yassin, a renowned social media personality known as Nas Daily , earned the Daniel Pearl Award for his work to advance Muslim/Jewish relations and Israeli/Palestinian reconciliation.
— Accenture CEO Julie Sweet received the 2024 Courage Against Hate award after a wonderful introduction by Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.

Breakthrough Announcements ADL made several breakthrough announcements during Never is Now:
Fighting Antisemitism on Campus – Chabad on Campus International (COCI) and ADL announced a new joint initiative to combat antisemitism on college campuses.
New ADL Tool to Track Global Antisemitism – ADL launched ATLAS, our new Google-Earth style interactive resource that brings together much of our data about antisemitism around the world.
J7 Task Force Convenes – ADL managed the first full meeting of the J7 Task Force on Global Antisemitism, including a meeting with UN Secretary General Guterres.
