SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres lost a home game against the Colorado Rockies by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday night, but for fans who purchased Jewish Heritage celebration tickets, the blow was softened.
Special Padres hats bearing the “Chai” (Life) symbol were distributed to them, and they got to hear and cheer Rabbi Jeremy Gimbel of Congregation Beth Israel sing “The Star Spangled Banner” in pre-game ceremonies.
Sarah Bruner showed her Jewish pride, donning a shirt with the legend “Jewish space laser technician,” a humorous reference to the suggestion made by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) that last year’s forest fires in California might have been ignited by Jewish lasers from space.
