ENCINITAS, California (Press Release) – Seacrest Foundation and Guardians of San Diego will host the 32nd Annual “Take a Swing for Seniors” Golf, Tennis, Pickleball & Spa Day with presenting sponsor, William Gumpert Foundation, on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the beautiful Park Hyatt Aviara Resort & Golf Club. All levels of players are welcome.
The newly renovated Aviara Miraval spa, which opened in August 2023, is a popular portion of this event and will offer luxurious services and amenities in a beautiful, serene setting.
This annual event raises funds to support the provision of charitable care for residents of Seacrest Village. Charitable care is financial assistance for residents who cannot afford the cost of their care – housing, meals, nursing care, and more. Guardians of San Diego is a dedicated volunteer group founded in 1945 for the sole purpose of supporting Seacrest Foundation’s mission to make it possible for Seacrest Village to care for frail and elderly members of our community who may have nowhere else to turn.
Over 150 participants are expected to attend and celebrate the many residents and families whose lives have been touched by the care and services they receive. Being involved with the Guardians’ annual event has proven to be a rewarding and fun experience for many family members and supporters. Earl Altshuler, Guardians committee member, shares, “It’s an honor to have been a part of this tournament since the beginning of its impressive 32-year run. I remember so many good times out on the course with friends that I see there each year and I have made new friends, and even business connections while playing. It’s truly a feel-good day knowing that we are helping to care for the frail and elderly. My great grandfather lived at The San Diego Hebrew Homes for the Aged (the original name of the organization founded in 1944) and my grandmother, aunts, uncles, father, and mother received outstanding care at Seacrest before their passing. I’m forever grateful. I’ll continue to support Seacrest Foundation’s essential work in caring for our community’s seniors for as long as I can.”
All registration fees include a welcome lunch, tournament or spa participation, a special gift, multiple contests and awards, green/court fees, complimentary snacks and beverages, access to the resort facilities, and an awards ceremony with hosted bar and dinner buffet. The golf tournament contests include longest drive, closest to the pin, straightest drive, and hole-in-one.
First- and second-place foursomes will win special prizes, in addition to the first-place golf foursome and top tennis and pickleball players having their names engraved on the perpetual trophy that is housed at Seacrest Foundation. Introductory clinics and fun contests are set up for tennis and pickleball players.
Other activities include an online auction, a raffle drawing for $1,000 cash, and a “Wine Putt” where for $30 you can putt for a mystery bottle of red or white wine (all bottles are valued at a minimum of $30 and some over $200 – everyone wins)! The online auction will include multiple golf foursomes at exclusive courses, golf equipment, staycations, fine dining, Napa wine tasting, and much more.

Individual tickets for golfers are $450 “Early Bird,” $525 after September 16, 2024, and golfers 40 & Under (Rising Leaders) are just $250. Tennis and Pickleball players are $225 each.
