SAN DIEGO – As the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees is upon us, I was surprised to learn that no active players on either team are Jewish. Game one was a Slam-Fest that ended with the Los Angeles Dodgers dominating with a 6-3 win. Game two started with two home runs so I switched my television viewing to the San Diego Aztecs football game. The final was Los Angeles Dodgers 4 and New York Yankees 2. The Los Angeles Dodgers are up by two games and Game three will be tonight (Oct. 28)
Jewish celebrities who attend New York Yankee games are super-fan Billy Crystal and Adam Sandler. My twins are avid fans of Seinfeld, so when they show Larry David (creator of Seinfeld) and Jerry Seinfeld, we giggle. We hope no one gets sick from eating black and white cookies and wonder if they are enjoying Junior Mints in the stands. I never watched Seinfeld until the twins got old enough and most of the jokes are outdated.
Jewish Los Angeles Dodgers celebrity fans include Mila Kunis (husband Ashton Kutcher as well) as well as actors Skylar Astin and Josh Gad. Also seen in the stands is one of the Dodgers most famous retired pitchers, who refrained from taking the mound on Yom Kippur, Sandy Koufax.
