ENCINITAS, California (Press Release) – Guardians of San Diego’s 32nd Annual Golf, Tennis, Pickleball & Spa Day presented by Seacrest Foundation, with presenting sponsor, William Gumpert Foundation, raised over $160,000. Proceeds from “Take a Swing for Seniors” held October 28th will benefit the Resident Assistance Fund of Seacrest Village.
Seacrest Foundation hosted over 100 golfers, tennis players, pickleball players and spa goers at Monday’s event at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort and Golf Club in Carlsbad, as well as dozens of additional attendees for the reception and awards ceremony.
Aviara Golf Club is San Diego’s only golf course designed by Arnold Palmer.
The golf tournament began at noon with a shotgun start on the beautiful course, and the tennis and pickleball players started later in the afternoon with all tournament play ending with a cocktail reception. All players enjoyed a variety of snacks and refreshments throughout the day, including a margarita station, and beverages donated by City National Bank.
The all-day event started with a delicious buffet lunch, sponsored by La Jolla Wealth Management and Sid’s Carpet Barn, and included a raffle drawing with a $1,000 first prize, a “wine putt” activity, where guests pay $25 to putt towards bottles of wine valued from $25-$100, and an exciting online auction. Hot items in the auction included golf at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, Hillcrest Country Club, The Crosby, and La Valle Coastal Club, along with beauty packages, gourmet dinners, fine wine, jewelry, and fun experiences all over San Diego.
Following the tournaments, all players and guests congregated at the Golf Club for an outdoor cocktail
reception, dinner, and awards ceremony.
The first-place golf tournament foursome included Brett Feuerstein, Charles Wax, Daniel Wax, and Marshall Wax. First place tennis players were Kim Stromberg and Steven Kavy, and first place pickleball players were Brad Blose and Randy Urist. Each of the individuals received $100 gift cards to Cohn Restaurant Group, a bottle of wine, and will get their names engraved on the perpetual trophy housed at Seacrest Foundation. The raffle had three lucky winners: Scott Beeber, Wayne Otchis, and Joan Watkins.
This year’s committee was led by chair, Robert Haimsohn, and included members Earl Altshuler, Cindy Bloch, Devin Chodorow, Marty Ehrlich, Mary Epsten, Noah Mazur, and Larry Weitzen.
“Charitable care is assistance for those whose savings have been depleted due to illness or injury and for those who may have no one to turn to for help,” said tournament Chair and Seacrest Foundation Board Member, Robert Haimsohn. “Requests from Seacrest Village for charitable care exceed nearly $2.5 million annually, and thanks to all of the dedicated players and supporters in our tournament, we have been able to secure over $160,000 to help Seacrest Village support this need.”
Guardians of San Diego recognizes the following additional top sponsors: Elissa & Dr. Gary Davis, Lisa & Gary Levine, Gallagher, La Jolla Wealth Management, Sid’s Carpet Barn, Inc., and SGPA Architecture.
