I would say that it is not a waste of time to debate. The purpose of debate is not to change the mind of one’s opponent. The purpose is to put arguments before the listeners. And obtuse, entrenched ignorance tend to make a bad impression upon the listeners. That is why we need to engage in debate.

  2. It’s not a waste of time. No, you will not reach an agreement with entrenched attitudes. People who would view or see these talks will come into them with different levels of understanding and background. It is for THEM that the debate should continue. It is hard to face blind hate, but if we do not the ‘Jews have horns’ crowd gets to dominate all the information out there, which is not a way to help interested people understand the history, ethics, or consequences of the conflict.

  3. This blog provides a compelling discussion on the complexities of dialogue and advocacy regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It presents thought-provoking views on the refusal to engage in debate. Thanks!
