SAN DIEGO (SDJW) — Beth Jacob Congregation is moving from the College area to the San Carlos, joining two other Orthodox synagogues in the neighborhood.
One is Young Israel of San Diego; the other is Chabad of East County.
Beth Jacob purchased the Bank of America building at 7404 Jackson Drive at an undisclosed price. Escrow closed on Feb. 13, according to a statement from Beth Jacob.
Estimated move in date will be 18 months from now, giving Beth Jacob Congregation members time to relocate from their homes or rentals.
The congregation’s news release said, “In the coming weeks, the Relocation Committee will be connecting with members to discuss their relocation plans and ensure that we have a relocation plan in place for each member–including the housing requirements of each member… As presented at the last town hall, the current plan includes acquiring single family homes and condominiums in the new location, in a managed and measured manner to avoid increasing demand. We encourage members to work with the Relocation Committee before independently making offers on new homes to ensure that this process is successful.”
