LA MESA, California – In two days (nightfall, Saturday, April 12), many families will be celebrating the beginning of Passover.
I enjoy hearing all the traditions my friends do with their Seders, what they serve, who hides the afikomen and if Elijiah comes to make a visit.
When my twins were little, they would get scared opening the front door hoping Elijiah would come in. My dear friend Ellen Lorang z”l, told me when she was a kid, they would go to the door to look for Elijiah and an adult at the table would drink the glass of wine for Elijiah and tell the kids Elijiah drank it when they were not looking. She told me all the kids would find that so fascinating.
The Israeli American Council put together a booklet to be incorporated during Passover. I enjoyed getting ideas of making matzoh people which I will do in a few days. Year-round, my twins ask for matzo pizza, and I have many friends that give me their extra boxes so we have a good amount to get us to the next Passover! Click here to download the PDF.
