LA JOLLA, California (Press Release) — Joseph “Chickie” Glickman, a philanthropist who was days away from his 103rd birthday, died at his home in La Jolla on Monday, May 21. Private funeral services were scheduled, with family members planning to observe shiva on Wednesday at a private residence
The youngest of nine children, Glickman was raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to La Jolla with his wife, Beverly, 52 years ago. Beverly, known as “Birdie,” and Chickie were married for 77 years. She passed away on August 26, 2015.

He had a passion for Israel and he deeply loved his family as they did him. He was the lead donor for the Hillel House to be built near UC San Diego.
He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Galinson (Herbert Solomon) and his two sons, Edward and Robert, along with 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and devoted professional caregivers.
