A new book for former San Diegan Marilyn Forstot

Marilyn Forstot

SAHUARITA, Arizona (Press Release) — More Precious than Rubies by former San Diegan Marilyn Forstot is set during and after the American Revolution. The story follows the life journey of a heroic Jewish woman, Sarah Perez, and her family. The well-researched novel shows early American life from a Jewish perspective and demonstrates the contributions Jews made toward the formation of the new nation.

In 1776, the American ship, Andrew Doria, sailed into the port of St. Eustatius. This small Dutch West Indies Island was the first to recognize the flag of the United States. Sarah is there to witness this great event which affects her future in ways she could not imagine. Eventually, Sarah joins the Jewish community in Newport, Rhode Island, and ultimately fulfills her life’s dreams in Charleston, South Carolina.

More Precious than Rubies is available from Amazon in both e-book and print form. It has received 5-star ratings from readers.

The Arizona Daily Star said More Precious than Rubies “offers a unique view of the Jewish experience during the War of Independence.” Dan Shearer, editor of The Green Valley News and Sahuarita Sun wrote, “Marilyn Forstot writes beautifully. It’s a joy to read her work.” Forstot’s short stories have appeared in national publications. She wrote articles and film and book reviews for newspapers in California and on the web, and published a romance novel.

After having raised their family in the San Diego area, Forstot and her husband, long-time members of Tifereth Israel Synagogue, retired to Southern Arizona.   — From the Forstot family
